Enrollment

As of December 2007, there were nearly 1,700 children enrolled in Healthy Kids. Thanks to support from First 5 Santa Cruz County, all eligible children age 0-5 (currently about 300 kids) are covered. Funding challenges continue to challenge our ability to cover all eligible 6 to 18 year olds. There are currently 432 children age 6 and over on a waiting list, which grows by about ten children per week.

Our local fundraising committee, consisting of representatives from the Community Foundation of Santa Cruz County, Dominican Hospital, Pajaro Valley Community Health Trust, United Way and Watsonville Community Hospital, continue to raise funds to enroll as many children as possible. You can make a contribution to Healthy Kids in support of our efforts to ensure access to health care for all local children.

At the same time, Healthy Kids of Santa Cruz County is partnering with state-wide children's advocates and the United Way in order to expand health care coverage to all California children. For more information on these state-wide efforts, visit www.cchi4kids.org. CCHI or the California Children's Health Initiatives is a coalition of local health coverage programs like Healthy Kids of Santa Cruz County which operate in 32 counties throughout California.
